Over the weekend I saw a trailer on NBC for Celebrity Apprentice. I hate to admit it but the commercial got my blood boiling for one simple reason. Rod Blagojevich. The ex-governor of Illinois who participated in auctioning off Barack Obama’s Illinois Senate Seat after he was elected President. Blagojevich was convicted and removed by the Illinois Senate by a vote of 59-0. Blagojevich was indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2009.
What really makes me mad is that NBC is trying to pawn off “Blago” as a celebrity. In the age of the internet and and reality TV we know that the term celebrity is loosely thrown around. You can have 10 plastic surgeries and be a “celebrity”. You can have 8 or 20 kids and get your own T.V. show and be a celebrity. But to be impeached as the Governor of one of America’s most populous states and be indicted on federal charges does not make one a celebrity. It turns my stomach.
Don’t let Mr. Donald Trump or NBC fool you or force feed this garbage down your throats. For them to choose Blago as a contestant is repulsive in this day and age when politicians are a rung up above the three headed dogs that guard the gates to hell. Mr.Trump is famous not only for making a lot of money with Daddy’s dough and connections but also for going on Don Imus’s radio show during the Bush administration and bad mouthing the Iraq war and the direction this country is heading. So what does he do? He “rewards” a man involved in betraying the public trust and involved in cronyism and corruption. If you need proof you can reference the Illinois Senate vote of 59-0. Also I use the term “rewards” loosely. Being on NBC I don’t know if it is reward or punishment for Mr.Blagojevich.
Mr.Trump I will not be viewing your garbage. I actually enjoyed the show in the past. But for you to try and pass this plate of spoiled fish under America’s nose and tell us it’s caviar just doesn’t fly with me. I will not reward NBC or it’s sponsor’s who want to throw a guy that is so full of it and tell me that “Since being hijacked from office, he’s embarked on a campaign to clear his name for himself, his family and for the people of Illinois” according to the NBC Apprentice website. 59-0 Donald. 59-0.
NBC and Mr.Trump can continue to be out of touch with the American people. All we want are politicians to solve our problems or at least make an honest effort. Just try. And don’t be corrupt! Don’t. That’s it. That’s all we want. Notice how NBC doesn’t do a season where they show military veterans doing their best in the business world. Why not give them the promotion and the air time and the “celebrity”? No! That would be too appropriate in this day and age. When America needs heroes and examples to their children that “Hey, you can lay it on the line for this country and we will appreciate it and give YOU the break!” Instead we get Blago. A corrupt, full of crap politician. It’s just disgusting.
When you Google “sponsors of Celebrity Apprentice 2010″ nothing of note comes up. They should hide their faces. I hope these “sponsors” or enablers as I like to see them as, want their products and their corporate identity intertwined with a brand and person who gives not a care about being honest with the American people and doing their jobs as they were elected to do. Instead see’s their role as someone who will exploit the election of America’s first African-American to the Presidency as a winning scratch off ticket. Disgusting! Purely disgusting! Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe with a show that opens with the theme song “Money,money,money..” maybe they are being upfront and honest. But I won’t stay tuned in to see it. I will be repulsed and see no integrity behind these products that they hawk on this show. I plan on doing my talking with MY money, money, money! I hope you join me.
