Colleen meet the Tea Party. Tea Party, Colleen

This email has been making it’s way around the Teaparty members and their websites.

Dear
Sign the petitionTea Party hysteria has snowballed into a truly dangerous third-party political force. These guys aren’t going away. They’ve proven they can raise millions in a matter of hours and they’re skewing elections across the nation. Can you imagine the havoc they would wreak if they took office en masse? If they had their way, how many states would even stay in the U.S.?
After the GOP won two Democratic governorships and, just last month, took Ted Kennedy’s U.S. Senate seat (after 57 years in Democratic hands), the Far Right thinks they have the momentum to defeat us this November — even the 37 governors’ races that are up for grabs.
These angry, extremist Teabaggers will go to any length to crush every inch of President Obama’s agenda.

Americans, every one of us, deserve governors who will fight for the middle class — not self-serving politicians who kowtow to special interests whose political hero is Sarah Palin. But that’s exactly what the GOP’s Tea Party-obsessed candidates are doing.

Tell these obstructionists to stop playing politics with people’s lives. Click here to sign our petition: voice your outrage at the GOP’s destructive pursuit of power and support President Obama’s brave and historic efforts to put our nation back on the right track.

President Obama is facing the greatest challenges of our age, not to mention a monumental mess left behind by eight years of Republican rule. And yet he’s accomplished more than any first-year president in recent history. But, as they’ve done continuously since being booted from power, Republicans are fighting to steer us back to the failed policies and fear tactics of the Bush-Cheney-Rove era.

With 37 governorships, 36 Senate seats, and the entire U.S. House up for election in just nine months , Republicans are going to the lowest lows — lying, cheating, smearing — to destroy the achievements we’ve fought so hard for. And you can bet they have no plans to stop.

Tell the Party of No that we won’t let them drive our country into the ground once again — sign the DGA’s petition and let the GOP know you’re behind President Obama’s progressive solutions, not Tea Party Republicans’ shameful and dangerous political games.

Then, in support of President Obama, forward this to every friend and relative you can. Each voice added to yours and mine will build the power of our message and create a potent antidote to the Tea Party’s hate-filled political hysteria.

Because as loud as they yell, with enough voices of our own I know we can prevail. Help us spread this message. America deserves better than the GOP’s callous political games. America deserves solutions.

Thank you for standing with us,

Colleen Turrentine

Democratic Governors Association

P.S. Add your voice to ours and tell power-hungry Tea Party Republicans bent on destroying our progressive agenda that you’re standing with President Obama as he forges a better future for America. Then show even more support for the President by forwarding this message to everyone you know and help this message grow even more powerful.

Editors Note- Colleen it is unprofessional to use the term TEABAGGER. Also alot of Americans do not agree with ” our progressive agenda”.  That’s the reason why you and your organization are out of touch. Stop trying to ram a “progressive agenda” down our throats. More importantly thank you for putting in writing the words “Obama’s progressive agenda”.  That is gold! You are awesome! Keep up the good work! Your so awesome I’m gonna let America know how great you are!

The email was written by Colleen Turrentine. She was formerly National Finance Director at Bill Richardson for President. She currently is the National Finance Director at Democratic Governors Association. Colleen is located in Washington D.C.

Here is her LinkedIn page-http://www.linkedin.com/pub/colleen-turrentine/7/858/276

She was known as Colleen McCarthy until 2006 when she married Daniel Calhoon Turrentine a political fundraising consultant. Mr.Turrentine is best known as the national finance director in Washington for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton up until 2006. A couple made in political heaven! I wonder if she got Teabagged on her honeymoon? Anyway I digress…

Here is a link for the wedding infohttp://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9501E4D7143EF93AA25752C1A9609C8B63and the funny part is his father is the chief legal officer and secretary of the board of Special Olympics Inc. in Washington. Must make meeting with Rahm Emanuel quite awkward.

Now back to good old Colleen. This is the announcement of her becoming the DGA fundraising. The link also shows her past connections to all Democratic work particularly in my home state of New York and New Jersey. It appears she got her start for Sen. Mark Clayton (D) of Minnesota.

Her is the link to that-http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Colleen+Turrentine+has+become+the+new…

Colleen oversees all fundraising operations for the Democratic Governors Association. In 2008 she doanted $300 to the Democrats.

Here is a link to some documents about the DGA 2009 conference. The interesting thing is it’s held in Saratoga, New York and ends with a day at the Racetrack for all attendees. If you scroll down you can see ALL the corporations that sent people to this Governor’s conference. From Microsoft to Yum Brands I guess business as usual in Washington.

Now we get to the DGA- Ironically out of all the people in America to hold the position of Executive Director of the Democratic Governors Association the only one qualified was good old Democrat soldier Tom Daschle’s son Nathan Daschle. I love nepotism! More about him and his connection to the people who hate the Teaparty.

Finally I highlighted the 3 contributors in the top 5 for the DGA because they are the same 3 contributors who helped fund the “Stoptheteaparty” website which is talked about on this site under yesterdays post.

We will be seeing more of Mr.Nathan Daschle and his games to stop the Teaparty as Nathan has also served in the legislative affairs office of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. The same group that is funding the “Stoptheteaparty” website. I have to admit this political stuff is FUN!!!!

The Teaparty is making enemies

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”- Gandhi

That is one of my favorite quotes from Mohandas Gandhi. The man who took on the English Crown and won by non-violence. In 2010 if anyone has been paying attention to the political movement know as the TeaParty http://teapartypatriots.ning.com/ they would know that applies to them as well as anybody. “First they ignore you.” That seems to be the case as the Teaparty movement sprung up all over America. Huge assemblies of people protesting big government and the intrusion of government into their healthcare and wallets were virtually ignored by the mainstream media. ABC,CBS, NBC offered virtually no coverage to these movements. CNN famously had one of their reporter’s verbally argue with the protestors at one peaceful assembly of Teapartiers.  http://newsbusters.org/blogs/julia-seymour/2009/04/15/cnn-correspondent-claims-tea-parties-anti-government-anti-cnn

“Then they laugh at you.” Soon the liberal media would respond by denigrating the Teaparty movement by calling them “Teabaggers”. Anderson Cooper apologized for using that term. NPR a taxpayer funded organization ran a immature, disgusting cartoon of “Learn to Speak Tea Bag”. In which it portrayed the Teaparty members as ignorant, paranoid, racists. When news organizations began covering the Teaparty protests they would focus on the most extreme signs in the crowd and the most extreme elements. People who believed in their 2nd Amendment rights were painted as crazed right wing militia. People who were against higher taxes and less government were portrayed as paranoid chicken little’s with socialism falling out of the sky. When people unfortunately brought posters portraying President Obama as Hitler the media who vilified George W. Bush as some type of American Hitler cried bloody murder.

“Then they fight you”. Now the powers that be have been scared and realize that the Teaparty is not going away. That it is a movement that is only gaining more members each and every day. That they may have already influenced the three elections of New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachussettes. They are gaining momentum and getting more and more organized. Also they are starting to get the ears of Politicians and the coverage of Fox News. Charlie Crist in Florida seems to be the next victim in the TeaParty’s crosshairs. This scares the current establishment. To see Americans united and focused exercising their right to vote. Now the blowback is starting. Recently ads have started appearing on Craigslist looking for people to literally “Stop the Teabaggers!” for $24,000 a year plus medical.http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=123267 Oh and to counter Americas 2nd favorite television personality Glenn Beck. A man who’s rating are soaring and just destroying his competion.  Now comes the website http://theteapartyisover.org/ A organization who’s mission is “To prevent the Tea Party’s dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction.” The Teaparty went from an organization of weirdos and misfits to a movement with “dangerous ideas”. If less government and the belief in the 2nd Amendment is dangerous than I must be Evil Knievel.

I wondered who would put their time and money into a website aimed at countering the Teaparty movement. I did some research and found out that American Public Policy Committee who is sponsoring the website seems to be a “front” organization who’s main goal is to discredit the Teaparty movement. These are their two biggest contributors this year

1 Patriot Majority West $25,000
2 Patriot Majority $5,000
http://www.opensecrets.org/527s/527cmtedetail_contribs.php?ein=2056…
Those groups are 527′s they do not coordinate their programs or contributions with any candidates but they were involved in a dispute             ” 2009, the Federal Election Commission ruled 4-0 on a 2008 complaint by the National Republican Congressional Committee against Patriot Majority”. According to their website http://www.patriotmajority.us/about/

The top 5 contributors to the Patriotmajority in 2008 http://www.opensecrets.org/527s/527cmtedetail_contribs.php?cycle=20…                                                                                                                                     1 American Fedn of St/Cnty/Munic Employees $5,800,000
2 Service Employees International Union $770,000
3 Change to Win $500,000
4 Patriot Majority West $300,000
4 Communications Workers of America $300,000
6 Teamsters Union $250,000

So basically their number one supporter is government employees. Number 2 is the sevice employees union. Also notice the Teamsters are in the top five.  All the supporters are pro-Obama and it’s apparent to see why during the recession the only industry adding jobs was the education sector who received a huge cut of the stimulus and government jobs. I’m no economist but it’s unsustainable to have so much money tied up in the government and not contributing to the private sector. Also it is poor policy to take so much money out of the private industry and give that to government employees. Remember that money being taxed is not money being made. All that is happening is that the money is being transferred from one area to another. Wealth is not being created. It is only being taken form one person and given to another.

“Then you win”. Now only time will tell if these organizations that have been constructed to fight back against the Teaparty have any effect. They are fighting a movement that we have not seen for a long time. Americans who care. In Peter Bergen’s book “The Osama Bin Laden I Know”, Bin Laden has a quote in it about how apathetic the average American is when it comes to politics. This must scare the unions and elites that the average American is awake and cares. That they want to see the political change that has been portrayed throughout the last 40 years by liberals in the courts and throughout the entire education system. Obama promised change but I don’t think this is the change he had in mind. The question is now who is going to win the establishment or the Teapartiers. Either way it will make for some interesting politics as the average American starts to care again. Now that’s change that I believe in.
