Pakistan is the Enemy of the U.S. Not Wikileaks

The website Wikileaks is all over the news for their leaking of 90,000 documents pertaining to the war in Afghanistan on their website. I have to admit that a while back I was played. I was made a fool by the U.S. government. As I was searching for material to write about I came across the articles that were trickling out at the time about how Pakistan was helping the Taliban. That was amazing to me that Pakistan had the balls to do that. For all the trouble they caused us and all the “help” we’ve given them. I was mad! But like an idiot I see a story at the same time about how Afghanistan “found” a trillion dollars worth of minerals in their country. I swallowed it hook line and sinker.

The Russians knew about these minerals. The World Bank knew about these minerals. And the United States knew about these minerals. It was put out there by the media at an opportune time to provide cover for the report, published by the London School of Economics, a leading British institution, on Sunday (June 13), said research strongly suggested support for the Taliban was the “official policy” of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI).

That report was put on the back-burner of the media, so the up-lifting “sexy” story about how the little poor country of Afghanistan was actually rich. I admit I fell for it. This is how they control the debate. This is how they control the conversation and the thoughts of America. I’ll bet that even if you didn’t read this blog you definitely heard about the minerals. I’ll bet you didn’t hear anything about Pakistan helping the Taliban.

Now with the Wikileaks news according to FoxNews they say that the Leaks:

“cover much of what the public already knows about the troubled nine-year conflict: U.S. spec-ops forces have targeted militants without trial, Afghans have been killed by accident, and U.S. officials have been infuriated by alleged Pakistani intelligence cooperation with the very insurgent groups bent on killing Americans.”

The Sun in England said :

There were also details of top-secret US based “assassination squads” who targeted high profile Taliban members.

The reports also included details of US suspicions that Pakistani intelligence had helped Taliban operations in Afghanistan.

Now it gets better. What is the big news today?

A secret memo obtained by the Sunday Times in London reveals that the Obama Administration did know about the possible release of Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi.  The memo reportedly said, according to Foxnews:

“Nevertheless, if Scottish authorities come to the conclusion that Megrahi must be released from Scottish custody, the US position is that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer, which we strongly oppose,” – End Statement

The publication of the memo’s contents comes just days after President Obama, at a press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, said “all of us … were surprised, disappointed and angry” by the Scottish government’s decision to free Abdel Baset al-Megrahi last year.

So do you see the pattern? Tonight on the news Sean Hannity and Chris Matthews can debate about Obama’s decision and what role he played in the release of a terrorist from 20 years ago. Instead of talking about how can we  win in Afghanistan if our ally Pakistan is playing both sides and helping the Taliban. That will be the BIG news story!

Now the U.S. government will tell a tale of how this leak by Wikileaks is “endangering America soldiers”. Keep in mind that the documents pertain to 2002-2009. They do not put our soldiers in danger. They expose that they are in a untenable situation to fight the Taliban who is getting support and intelligence from Pakistan.

BUT! It gets even BETTER!!!! The United States KNOWINGLY funds the Taliban. How? Well in Hillary Clinton’s own words:

“You offload a ship in Karachi and by the time whatever it is – you know, muffins for our soldiers’ breakfasts or anti-IED equipment – gets to where we’re headed, it goes through a lot of hands. And one of the major sources of funding for the Taliban is the protection money.

An American officer in the Tierney report says:

“the heart of the matter is that insurgents are getting paid for safe passage because there are few other ways to bring goods to the combat outposts and forward operating bases where soldiers need them. By definition, many outposts are situated in hostile terrain, in the southern parts of Afghanistan. The [Afghan security companies run by warlords] don’t really protect convoys of American military goods here, because they simply can’t; they need the Taliban’s cooperation.

Figures from the report place the amount going to insurgents from the protection racket at between $100 million to $400 million last year. The amount the Taliban is estimated to take in from the opium business is about $300 million per year.

BUT!!!! It gets EVEN BETTER!!!!!! This is from ForeignPolicy.com on July 19, 2010:

In Islamabad today, Secretary Clinton announced a whole slew of development projects for Pakistan: hydroelectric dams, refurbishment of municipal water-supply systems, hospital renovations, agricultural projects, etc.

The projects are being funded through the Kerry-Lugar-Berman legislation passed in the United States last year that provides $7.5 billion over five years to fix Pakistan’s infrastructure and promote its economic development.

This is a quote from the article:

The U.S. government is trying to dispel the distrust that many Pakistanis have toward the United States, and Clinton was trying to make it clear that the development aid is for helping Pakistan itself and is not just for advancing U.S. security interests.

Clinton said:

“There’s a legacy of suspicion that we inherited.… It’s not going to be eliminated overnight. But it’s our goal to slowly but surely demonstrate that the U.S. is concerned about Pakistan for the long term, and that the partnership goes far beyond security against our common enemies.”

A legacy of suspicion? Are you serious? Pakistan is helping kill American and NATO soldiers and we are the ones the Pakistani’s should question? She’s got huge balls!

Let me tell you about Pakistan. Remember when 9/11 happened and they did that big report and they blacked out and re-dacted a whole bunch of pages concerning a country that was our “Ally”. Everyone went crazy thinking it was Saudi Arabia that Bush was protecting. It wasn’t. Have you ever heard of Omar Saeed Sheikh? He’s the guy who cut Daniel Pearl‘s head off. Also he’s the guy who sent $100,000 to Mohammed Atta. The ringleader of 9/11. Who did Saeed Sheikh work for? ISI. Pakistan’ Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

Nine years after 9/11 and they are still killing Americans. What is our government doing for them now? Paying them to do it. Tonight the media and the government will tell you that Wikileaks is the enemy. Hopefully you know after reading this who the real enemy is.

  1. This really pisses me off. No other word to describe….I’ve known we’ve help Pakistan for a long while with big bucks – but this is lucridous!

“In Islamabad today, Secretary Clinton announced a whole slew of development projects for Pakistan: hydroelectric dams, refurbishment of municipal water-supply systems, hospital renovations, agricultural projects, etc.

America the “used to be great”. Our infrastructure is falling a part. Things are collapsing from the east to the west and north to south.
I am infuriated and appreciate this information. I could never figure out why we were so “good” to Pakistan. Once again, American citizens are screwed!

    • The worse part is Marsha that Pakistan has no intention to “end” the Taliban. Once they do then their gravy train is done. No more free money from the U.S.A. We need our troops home. Now!

  2. Omar Saeed Sheikh is the man Benazir Bhutto named as the assasin of OBL. Very interesting. Very interesting indeed.

  3. Remember Musharaf? He was the ISI’s guy and ISI funded and trained the Taliban. OBL loved the guys too, but nothing he did could compare to what Pakistan did.

    • Of course I remember Musharaf! He was America’s favorite “frenemy”. Don’t forget that when you mention the ISI training and funding the Taliban don’t leave out the CIA! That’s their bastard love child as well! Also I’ve been reading a lot of rumors that OBL is dead. I would assume so also. Haven’t heard a peep from him in a long time…

      • If you ever get the chance, Steve Coll wrote a book called “Ghost Wars’ about Afghanistan, Bin Laden and the CIA. Pakistan plays prominently as well.

Published in ’04 – covers ’81 to 9/11. Fabulous book and reads like a thriller. (Just under 600pps with a hundred+ of notes etc in my paperback edition)
