Jill: “Where were you tonight?”
Joe: “I went out”
Jill: “How come you didn’t answer your cell phone?”
Joe: “I was at the movies.”
Jill: “Who’d you go with?”
Joe: “I went with my friend Barack.”
Jill: “Oh, yeah! What movie did you go to see?”
Joe: “ um, is, uh, this uh, this, this, this new program that I looked at it and wished I were seeing it in 3-D. And you sit there and you watch this science fiction thing unfold in front of you.”
Jill: “Avatar?” (rolling her eyes)
Joe: “Yes. Avatar. Very good. There are others, there are some other real good ones out there. But I saw Avatar.”
Jill: “I’m going to bed.” (Slams the door)
(Joe reaches in his pocket and pulls out his cell phone)
Joe:”Hey Barack it’s Joe… Joe Biden….your VP! Yeah, good. Listen Barack if Jill calls you. Me and you went to see Avatar tonight. Ok? I know. I’m not asking you to lie! I know you don’t want to be caught in the middle. Please. Just do this for me. I will definetly get you back. I owe you one! Don’t worry when re-election time comes I will definetly give it to those Republicans! Your the best, ok…Talk to you later. Bye. And Barack…. Thanks.”
(Joe sits down on his leather couch and plops his feet up on the table grabs his remote and starts watching Everybody Loves Raymond. Joe snickers to himself along with the laugh track)
Editors note- Joe how smart can you be when you can’t remember the name of a movie that is one word? Starts with an A! Has never been used before on the silver screen! Even a 10 year old can tell you the NAME of the movie that was so groundbreaking ”They had to see it in 3-D”! Just a little help for your P.R. When your so out of touch. Don’t pretend to be in touch. This is a great story about how the Lt.Gov elect Scott Lee Cohen is a crazy man! And by crazy I don’t mean fun! I mean telling your kids to stay away from that man. Quite frankly, I think the picture from Raiders of the Lost Ark of Pelosi is an improvement!
Ahhh, Nancy Pelosi, married 47 years to same man, mother of five, grandmother of seven, observant Catholic and the person who stopped all moves toward investigation/impeachment of George W Bush.
I don’t understand the antipathy toward her. Is it because she’s the Speaker and a Democrat? (that’s a sincere question).
That is an interesting question Moe. I’ll give it a go! My personal dis-like of Nancy Pelosi is that subconsciously she reminds of that teacher/principal authority figure. I actually read her Wikipedia page and found it quite interesting. I also dislike her for wearing a Snuggie during President Obama’s 1st State of the Union. I thought it was very disrespectful. No one. And I mean No ONE. Should ever be comfortable and ready to snooze when President Obama speaks. I also feel personally that the question and answer session with Obama and the Republicans was not his job. It’s hers. She should be the one talking openly to a room full of Republicans and trying to get a hold of the Congress not Obama. She also carries this bourgeois attitude to the average American like,”Quiet, the adults are working.” She makes no effort towards the concerns of Red States or their constituents. I think that is the dislike and disconnect.
Also you can google “dennis guthrie letter to nancy pelosi”. It’a lawyer writing it to a politician so in my book that’s like watching a barracuda write to a piranha but I think it will give you an insight into how the Right feels about her and the vitriol she commands. http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/guthrie.asp
Thanks for your input Moe and I am sure that there will be more comments on this subject from both sides.
If someone wrote me a letter that began with two hostile insults, I wouldn’t read the rest. It would go straight into the wastebasket. And maybe that’s what happened in Pelosi’s office; these people don’t read the letters they receive. They get hundreds every day. Staff only passes on the ones that have some relevance. But out of respect for you, I read on.
The letter is not a serious correspondence to a member of Congress – not in any way. The man doesn’t even reference a single issue facing this country.
All he does is call names and insult the Speaker of the House. It’s perfectly fine for him to hold these opinions, but his simply having written it means nothing to me. And if your point was that his words represent what many people believe, then I can only say that those beliefs have no basis in anything except not liking rich women from San Francisco.
He says “you ride around in a Gulfstream jet at the taxpayers’ expense.” Well, true. And so has every Speaker of the House in recent years, including Newt and Dennis Hastert. He says a lot of things but that was the only one that referenced an observable fact.
It’s understandable that you don’t know, since the media doesn’t cover such things…but just google ‘Nancy Pelosi corruption’ and see what you find. When she is not traveling back and forth to Cali on her upgraded 757 (The usual Speaker’s Gulfstream jet not being sufficient for her needs with a cost of $60,000 tax dollars per trip), she is busy lying about how she knew nothing about waterboarding (despite the taped briefing of the CIA informing her). In her spare time, she enjoys taking money from her PAC and handing it to her husband for his ‘business expenses.’ She consistently makes the list of Most Corrupt Politicians. Somehow this list never makes the news. Go figure.
Jim – I did exactly as you said and the very first headline was “Pelosi actually most corrupt member of congress” at a blog by a woman named Ruth Goldman who refers to Pelosi as “Monster Pelosi” and posts a laundry list of ‘facts’ very similar to one examined and mostly debunked in depth by Snopes. was a bit less vitriolic and full of accusations, among them that Pelosi’s husband may be a member of the Bohemian Club. Which he may be – I haven’t a clue – because it’s always been a club of rich/prominent men, including Bush 41 and Bush 43. I dont like the implications of that club at all, but if membership means corruption, well . . .

Moe, the only reason I referenced that letter was to show you the vitriol that she inspires in people. She has so much power in The Democrat party because she is in the most liberal voting district. She never faces a serious challenge and can use her campaiagn money to finance other Democrats. I think you failed to see that she inspires Republicans the SAME way Dick Cheney inspired Democrats. You probably have a thousand reasons why to hate Cheney and I could give you someone who has a thousand reasons to hate Pelosi. I think she is a horrible politician. I didn’t say person. Notice I said politician. This Congress is crooked and dysfunctional and she heads it. And the way I explained previously she picks up NO slack for Obama and also makes his job harder. Unless her and Obama are on the same page. And on your part the Gulfstream jet to me is also not the major knock. I am aware of previous Speaker’s use of these planes and the changes after 9/11 to the Succession of Order to better secure our political leaders. JM- did nail her with the water boarding though…

Best I can tell, the Senate is dysfunctional, but the Congress seems to be moving right along.
Dick Cheney WAS hated by the left (and many on the right) for his beliefs and for the interests he represented. So it’s a decent comparison.
But as for corruption on Pelosi’s part, I still need to see something substantial.
Hey Moe, when I say Congress I’m implying Capitol Hill. But you are such a stickler for details! I guess on the Pelosi subject we can agree to disagree. As always I value your opinion mostly because you are in a very different demographic than my self and I love the different opinion! Also I really do appreciate you adding me to your blogroll.
